Have a Peaceful Sleep with the Anti Snoring Orthopedic Pillow

By William

Snoring is not only an unpleasant disturbance for your spouse’s sleep. It is also a serious threat to your health, being a warning signal used by your body to tell you that there is a certain dysfunction present in your system. Snoring can have many causes, among which I will name just the major ones: obesity, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol, sleep apnea or an improper sleeping position.

With the first causes of snoring you have to deal yourself by getting rid of detrimental habits and changing your lifestyle for the better. Here I will tell you only how to get rid of snoring if it’s caused by the incorrect alignment of the breathing passages, which can occur when you sleep in a detrimental position.

Most people prefer to sleep on big pillows and soft mattresses. While this type of bedding seems extremely comfortable at fist, in the long run it may have severe consequences on your health by gradually deforming your spinal column, creating tension in your neck and back muscles and joints and obstructing your airways. Snoring is just a minor side-effect of a detrimental sleeping habit, especially when you compare it to all the other possible consequences.

But let’s get back to snoring and the most appropriate orthopedic pillow for preventing this noisy phenomenon. When browsing the internet (which is a wise thing to do before buying something), you will see that there are many anti snore pillows available. Since they are intended to support your neck and head in a correct, tension free position (thus relaxing your breathing passages and allowing the air to pass through without impediments), these pillows belong to the cervical (or contour) category.

The anti snoring pillow is an affordable, fast and non-invasive way of stopping snoring. Its only downside is the fact that it is a temporary solution – as soon as you sleep without your special pillow, you will snore again. These pillows are perfect for people who prefer to sleep in one position all night (on their back or on their side). However, if you like to toss and turn many times, there is a big chance that you will find yourself far from the pillow and snoring again.

Among the most popular models, I have to name the Brookstone Anti-Snore Pillow and the Sona ‘Stop Snoring’ pillow.

The Brookstone pillow is a memory foam neck pillow which cradles the neck and the head in a special position that keeps the airway open both for back and side sleepers. The price of this pillow is $99.99.

It aligns your airways naturally, so the air can freely reach your lungs, without being blocked and creating unpleasant noises. The Sona pillow costs $55.

You can also find vibrating anti snoring pillows. These are memory foam pillows with an ergonomic shape and a couple of built-in microphones. They are programmed to react to your snoring, activating a vibrating unit that alerts you whenever you snore, so you can adjust your position.

Besides the described models, you can find many other types of anti snore pillows online. The lowest price is $26, while the highest can reach $200. Before buying a certain product, make sure you read several reviews (not just the manufacturer’s advertisement!) and compare the pillow you like with other available models.

Besides preventing snoring, an orthopedic pillow will also alleviate neck and shoulder pain, keeping the spine in a correct position and offering you a quality sleep. With a good anti snoring pillow, you (and your spouse!) will wake up every morning energized and ready for a new wonderful day!
